Why is Labeling So Important?

At the beginning of the kindergarten year, students are mostly learning letters and sounds. Depending on where they are in this process, some students can match whole words, while others are just listening for the initial consonant. Labeling helps students learn by matching what they know to the pictures! They feel so smart!

The “bones of Labeling

When kids label, they use a multiple skillset. Students use scissors, use fingers as pinchers to pick up labels, phonics skills to think of letter sounds, prior learning to sound out words, critical thinking, fine motor when coloring and much more! Students become engaged in learning!
