I am going on my 25th year of teaching with 19 of those years
teaching Kindergarten. My family and my home are priorities in my life. My hubby and I have been married 36 years, have two married sons, and four little grandsons ages 4, 3, 1, and 1. Those grands came quickly! I am an accomplished pianist and musician, and have many skills of which I am proud, but the biggest material accomplishment would be our self-built home. It was started in 2004, finished to satisfy the bank in 2007…and a work in progress 🙂 We literally built it from the ground up with the help of our sons and their wives. It is an ICF home with three levels. All concrete–even the floors. It is an unusual shape…an elongated octagon (one of my favorite geometric shapes), and is designed to sound like a recital hall when I play my grand piano. We spent many nights and weekends, and four summers working on it while we both taught school. Hubby and I learned not to be afraid of heights–he actually had me helping put ceiling trusses up while standing on scaffolding by the top floor wall!!!). I don’t know how we survived…but I really mean it when I say, “My home is my castle.” 🙂 Here is a pic of the house outside, and inside with our sweet bullies, Mozart and Ollie. I began teaching in 1987, and plan to continue teaching for a few years. I love teaching little ones!
