School happenings from January through the rest of the year are hectic, to put it mildly. On the 100th Day, we had Hat Day for St. Jude’s and National Chocolate Day! That’s a lot to fit into one day! So, here is my answer to prepping for the many events coming up.
Over the past few years, I have been delighted to be art of Oriental Trading‘s blogger program. Teachers can find many products that meld perfectly with activities in the kindergarten classroom. The 100th Day of School is no exception!
It is no mystery that Oriental Trading provides a wide variety of products for all occasions, but this is the first year I specifically shopped for 100th Day of School resources and materials. For this special day, I selected the 100 Days of School Activity Journal. This little booklet has a colorful cover, and students were so excited to get something to keep after the day ended. We found many kinder-friendly activities in this booklet. The color by code “magic” page was a favorite!
Oriental Trading‘s ready made crows allowed us to get on with the more important work of kindergarten. I have used the finished crowns and the crowns students color. Both are great, but for our purposes, the finished crowns were the better option. And…did you know….each crown has a VELCRO CLOSURE! This is a major time savor as well!
All year, we have counted up to 100 with our coins. Identification of coins has been added back in as a standard in our state, so this little pig that I enlarged using Microsoft Publisher, then poster printing, has been perfect for our “farm”. I simply used rolled tubes of masking tape to attach the real coins. We will buy a prize for the whole class to enjoy during the last week of school when the coins are removed. Love this idea, and will do it again.
Throughout the day, we traced, wrote, counted and arranged objects to count to 100. What a great way to celebrate while fostering a love of math in your students!
This is a quick tracing page that I made on Thursday night last week. We used it three ways:
1st, we traced the numbers to 100.
Then we used bingo daubers to count to 100.
(we took a wiggle break to let our pages dry)
Finally, we placed 100 snacks on the 100 grid.
After counting them, we bagged them and has a snack!
Our day was so much fun! With the fun items from Oriental Trading we were able to get down to the important learning concepts so important in kindergarten. If you need a quick 100th Day page for trace, dot and place activities, here is your first FREEBIE!
