Hello! It has been a few days since I last posted, and so much is going on this Fall! I have had a ball working with my students on pumpkin activities, but it is time to move on to November. During this month, we will focus on generosity and kindness. We will take care of ourselves, our friends and our school and community. For those late blooming alphabet stars, I have a cute little intervention card game that you can grab here! I like to pull out resources that I have offered before just to be sure newcomers to my page know they have access. 🙂
In a time that is extremely tense for our country, you may not realize how much it impacts your students. It is the most important time to focus on positivity!!! On Monday, my class will be voting for Mr. Turkey or Mr. Deer. Knowledge of the democratic process for kinders means something very simple, but powerful: Every citizen of the United States of legal voting age has the RIGHT TO VOTE! This is the one thing I want them to know as they learn in my class. An election time is not the only time we exercise this privilege. We also vote to make decisions for our classroom, we take a poll of what our favorite foods may be–then record them on a graph, and much more! Students need to know everyone has a voice, but many times the majority will decide the outcome.
Here is a very simple Vote and Graph activity. REVISED to be gender neutral (dropped Mr. from both posters).
As we move toward Thanksgiving week, this has been a favorite easy reader for my kinders. You can find it here.
If you love labeling activities, this is one of my top sellers at TpT:
Students can label:
Santa
Leprechaun
Johnny Apleseed
Winter Girl
Winter Boy
Turkey
and more!
I hope you enjoy the freebies, and DON’T FORGET to VOTE! 🙂
