How is your year going? I will be beginning week four with thirteen very lively sweeties! Every year brings its new challenges. This year’s class is learning the alphabet at a nice rate, however we are working hard on knowing letters and sounds by October. It is very doable, and here is how we do it.
When school began this year, I posted our alphabet slideshow center on our @app.seesaw.me or Seesaw, the Learning Journal.
Our district has purchased @ESGISoftware for alphabet assessments, but if you do not have an assessment pack, here is one that helps you teach, assess then record a whole class profile. For sight words (we use Journeys) we begin practicing our sight words in self-running slideshow centers at the beginning of the year. Here is a short video of how these work:
You can find this slideshow bundle here.
To show the progress of learning to write our first and last names, we complete a monthly “My Name Through the Year” assessment sheet that has cut/paste and writing activities. Here is a FREEBIE for September, and a link to the full set.
The entire My Name Through the Year packet can be found here.
And to end my post, here are a few fun app.seesaw.me shares from my week!

I hope you have a great 2015-2016!
