Do you have big plans for Fall?
Like most teachers, I have a pretty involved project planned for my students this month. It involves having volunteers to help with cutting out small flannel shirt shapes from shirts parents donated to our class. Believe me, I did this without volunteer help one year, so I know the value of having great volunteers! I have already begun the process of finding out who can take on the task, and have my plan in place.
Beginning a task such as a project of this size can be made simple with Mailbox Gold’s printable resources and tips! The best way to begin working with volunteers is to send home a questionnaire to survey who wants to help, and what they will be willing to help with.
For the questionnaire, you only have to click a few times to find just the right printable! Mailbox Gold has a great search feature. Just type “parent volunteers” in the search bar and watch the screen load with all kinds of articles, letter and note templates and even volunteer management tips as in the picture below.
After questionnaires have been returned, it’s time to plan the work arrangement for your new besties.
First, determine what materials you will have volunteers to work with, and write a brief description of your specific needs. Be sure to include a timeline for having the project returned to you (if volunteers work on it at home). Then sent a note home explaining where they may find the project they will be helping on. My project has patterns for shirts and pants, so these will go in a bag with an old shirt. I also like to include scissors, but volunteers may already have their own. Here is the cute shirt and pant pattern I will be enlarging (we are making life size scarecrows). For templates for volunteer notes and patterns, go to Mailbox Gold’s Kindergarten, etc., section to find lots of ready-to-print resources!
Obviously, the best time to look for people willing to volunteer is now! If you need inspiration, search “parent volunteers” in Mailbox Gold. You will find everything you need to make your volunteer arrangement a success.
Happy Fall Y’all!
Maggie
