Have you heard of the Boogie Board tablets? If you haven’t, this is your opportunity to learn why they are such a phenomenal tool for education. 
Last week, I received my first Boogie Board SYNC in the mail, and I must say I am very impressed with the application possibilities for my students and myself.    

It comes with its own pen and charging cable, and has an unbelievable five day charge capacity.  I love that feature, so you can use all week, charge on weekends!  You will need to charge right out of the packaging to fully utilize the SYNC feature, but you can turn it on and use for notetaking with very little charge.  It reminds me of the old wax lift and erase drawing pads of my childhood, but the lines are cleaner with many more features, such as color variations when used with the SYNC setup.  The software is great! Students can see you demonstrate how to write letters, sentences, do a guided drawing lesson and much more in real time!

You can use a light or a heavy hand to vary line thickness
It erases with the click of one button
The save button saves each drawing locally for upload later to your devices–love that!
Students cannot erase parts of a drawing, so you can monitor how they write letters and words, see where they began again, and correct them as they go.  

Practical uses for the classroom:
Use with small groups for word work
Use with the whole group to demonstrate ELA or Math concepts on the board itself, or SYNC to a smart board for huge-live view.

I can imagine many potential uses for this great device, and I look for new features to be added as the year progresses. 

This company is on the ball! You can purchase the SYNC for less than $90 from Amazon, and the 8.5″ Boogie Board LCD version is even less expensive at only 29.00 or less! I plan to add some of the less expensive ones to my classroom for small groups, then gradually work toward a class set for whole group time.
