We often chuckle about what happened the first year our district went to extended days, and no longer having to make up snow days. Yes, you guessed it. Not one flake of snow fell the entire year! However, I think 2013 is already setting itself up to be one of the snowiest in a long time. My students have not been to school since December 4! As you might guess, this teacher is going into panic mode about so many sight words to study, and the mid-year benchmark tests!
So here is my strategy. I plan to hit the ground running when we do go back. We will finish the
Journeys lesson we started the first week of December, practice those sight word power points often, and practice fluency assessment skills via another power point I made, and keep our fingers crossed!
For writing, we are focused on seasonal topics and writing more than one sentence on each piece. I think this is doable! To make our writing as festive as possible, I have created this cute paper that you may also download for free by clicking on the pic! I hope you have a wonderful last week of school too! If you are interested in the Benchmark ppt, you can find it by clicking on the pic for it.
