Hey everyone, I linked up with Tessa from Tales Outside the Classroom to share the site I use the most during benchmark warm-up weeks throughout the year. It’s not a new site, but it is fantastic for teaching kids to watch for the whole words, and whether they are real or nonsense words. The site is called Phonics Play, and it is a program produced from the United Kingdom. There are many games on the site, but the Buried Treasure game is our favorite! You can choose progressively harder words each time students play through a 9 point game. My kids love watching the pirate fall in the water, so they will answer incorrectly on purpose, the little stinkers! đŸ™‚ If you’ve never heard of it, I hope you’ll give it a try! And be sure to check out Tessa’s linky for more websites! Stay tuned for a tutorial about turning your scrap paper into penants for awesome banners!

I use this site all the time! My student's love playing it on the SMART board đŸ™‚
I use it for ten minutes of RTI at least twice a week (tho our groups meet daily). I really think it helps to prepare them for our prog. monitoring or benchmark assessments! Thank you for leaving a comment!
Thank you for sharing this! I have never heard of it but will definitely check it out đŸ™‚
