If you have been following my blog feed on Google+, you are probably aware of the discontinuation of Google Reader, scheduled to happen on July 1, 2013. In order to maintain followers, blog owners will need to have you to follow on Bloglovin AND G+ in order to keep up with the reach of their blog. Many blog owners have worked hard to build a following, and the absence of Google Reader threatens to remove all of those all important readers of many wonderful blogs. So…when you visit your favorites in Google Reader, be sure to go to the actual blog, find the bloglovin button, and follow that blog through bloglovin. I am still searching for a similar feature with Feedly, so I will update here when I read more. Thank you for following me! I have learned so much through connections with followers! You guys rock!

I know that it’s sooo expensive when you are a new teacher trying to set up a classroom! So you find yourself reading, pinning, and shopping for items that will pull your classroom setup together in a cohesive way. One thing you can do to save bucks that first year is check out Dollar Tree every single week of the summer! Last summer, I was on the road a lot, and every time we went to a town or city with a Dollar Tree, I looked for cute organizers and baskets for my classroom. I found this super cute popcorn tub for my popcorn word center!

And here are some great little baskets for students to store their leveled readers!

If you still need something cheaper for students to store leveled readers, ask your friends to save their dishwasher pods tubs like the one below! Just tape a new label over the one on the tub, and you’ve got coordinated book tubs for the floor under your smartboard or whiteboard that are sturdy and will last until you find something fancier to replace them!
