Okay. I said it. Now you know my little secret! Every time we go to a Walmart, a Dollar Tree, a Staples, or (be still my heart) a Michael’s, I must look for new and interesting writing tools. I must! They call my name the minute I walk in the store! They may be just for me, or they may be for my grandsons or students, but I must seek out and make them my own!!!
Today was no exception, I procured these babies at Walmart! And they top my list for school. I have used the wonderful Crayola brand Twistable Colored pencils for two years, and believe it or not, I still have some from two years ago with a little left in them! What I absolutely love about them is they are soft enough to color on newsprint writing paper without tearing the page. The colors are vibrant, and they really do erase! We still use the triangular crayons at the beginning of the year, but after a great anchor chart lesson about how to use the twistable pencils, they soon become the coloring instrument of choice. There are time when we have to refer to the anchor chart to “remember” how to handle the pencils properly, but it all works out.
The price I paid at Walmart was a little over $4, however, if you are a lucrative shopper, you can seal the deal at Amazon for considerably less! You just need to watch the available stores who handle them, then make sure you choose to shop from a person with great feedback. I always try to have an order for other items in the shopping cart, then purchase items such as this to go along with it to save on shipping. If you have an Amazon credit card you can go one better and have free super saver shipping for qualifying orders. Here are the wonderful Crayola brand colored pencils in all their “gLorY” at Amazon :). I am simply giddy at the possibility of purchasing several sets when I place my order for new books for my kiddos!

I also love pens and look for new ones each time I go to the store!!

I so agree with you! If the writing tool is different just maybe it will help our littles try a little harder! So glad I'm not the only one!

I know it too late for your freebie but I just had to comment after reading your blog. I too have this "thing" for writing tools Especially if they are bright and in color! Last year the only colored pencils I allowed was the twistables. Did I hear no Sharpening ever!! Colored pencils have been my "pain in my side" for years and have ruined 2 electric pencil sharpeners. With a little training they work out perfect.
