I have really been using labeling as a way to inroduce vocabulary to be used in writer’s workshop, and it is paying off with dividends! Today’s mini-lesson was a discussion on what is proper winter dress for playing out in the snow.  My little labelers did such a great job observing and drawing comparisons with what they wear, then they went right to work finding one and two word labels to match the picture.  They are really listening to themselves, then choosing the best word/words to match.   I am so proud of their accomplishments!
