I spent the majority of my summer vacation planning for my year, and a priority was the assembling of the little crayon organizers I pinned a year ago on Pinterest. In two days time, we made the boards, painted the boards and cans, and assembled in order. They turned out so cute!
But cute is not why I wanted them. To my delight, the organizers are helping my students learn the colors and keep them sorted for math work! Having had difficulty with readiness to begin a math lesson because of lost or missing crayons, I truly appreciate “crayons at the ready”! Something I also did relating to the organizers was to purchase triangular crayons. I am having the best year e-v-e-r with proper pencil grip!!! To further compliment this arrangement, I have filled color-coded supply baskets with scissors, crayola twistables, and glue sticks. These handy dandy baskets wait nearby on a shelf until we need them. No more playing with scissors and glue during class!
If you have not tried a system to sort colors, I highly recommend it! Whether it be painted cans, or boxes, it is a win-win! Here is a picture of the organizers. We have foam hand sanitizer for those community germs! Have a wonderful Thursday!
