As we move toward meeting the challenges of the CCSS, I have created a
calendar routine that is shorter, and allows each learner to focus on each week in a month (rather than the too busy picture of an entire
monthly grid all at once). Included in the mini calendar journal routine are
opportunities for counting, practice writing numbers, patterning (you
choose the color and the pattern for each month), recording how many
days in school with tally marks, and who has a birthday in the month.
Weather Graphing takes a short bit to complete, then you are done! You
can compare how many sunny days, etc., at the end of the month by
counting and completing the bottom section of the weather graph. I
think it will work for me, and just might fit your needs as well! This
first month is FREE to allow you to tell me what you think. Will this
work for you? Thank you for trying it! The rest of the year is available HERE. BTW, I love comments, and invite you to share how this might fit into your calendar routine. I show the calendar on my smart board while students work in their version, and eventually turn the routine over to my student of the day. I love watching them lead!
