Hi everyone,
I too received this email and was skeptical about it being authentic, so I did a little detective work and came up with this article:
http://quantumprogress.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/awards-almost-suckered-again/
Unless a friend- blogger nominates me, and I know them, I don’t add awards to my site. In this day and age of phishing and information theft I wanted to share my discovery with fellow bloggers. Thank you all for continuing to read my blog! There is more to come as the summer continues…

(Would you believe I had a typo…fixed it…after reading that linked to article with all of the spelling errors, how could I not correct it? lol)

Wow! Very interesting! My Google Reader is filled with tons of wonderful bloggers who were all nominated for a Fascination Award. No one has brought up this article. I must admit, my blog came in #14 for the Elementary Teacher category. I was thrilled. Now, I'm not so sure!

I thought it sounded a bit fishy ….however I accepted before I saw your post. I haven't posted anything about it on my blog though. We all have fascinating blogs though don't we?? =)

I really thought about not posting anything, but I know how I feel about misleading info, and I didn't want others to be taken advantage of. Hubby and I have a policy of saying no unless we have sought out information or merchandise on our own. No sales pitches or telemarketers allowed here, lol. Take care,
Maggie
Thank you Maggie for posting this. I hope the truth will spread around the blogosphere faster than the nominations! I used to be bombarded with these scams but I was able to slow them down to a trickle by sending them an invoice for a $100 a month advertising fee- payable in advance for 12 months. They never responded and I rarely receive them any more 🙂 Oh, and the online degree guest blogger requests are also scams- spread the word!
I wondered if this was a scam when I received it but I was on my honeymoon and couldn't research it. I didn't ask anyone to vote for me but I did put it up on my blog. I'll be taking it down now. Thanks for sharing the article.
