D’ya know how when you’re planning out your room design for the next year, and you run out of ideas for how to display rotation charts because there is NO more wall space??? Yep, I know you’ve been there! I have been thinking about this as I design new display cards or posters, and it hit me! I have my math shelving in the middle of the room, usually, so why not use a binder as a Task Board!!! Okay, okay, you may applaud now, lol! This is like a rolling snowball…it keeps expanding in my head–all the ways I could use one of these.
I have always seemed to make more work out of centers rotation than really necessary, so this system is very exciting to me! I will have a four shelf unit with this binder and the must do baskets on top.
Icons for the other three centers will be hung on each of the other three shelves, and those shelves will have math station tubs to choose from. There will be choices in other places in our room too, but this will keep station time more orderly. I have a two-to-a-tub rule, so you need enough activities to supply every pair of students who will be working on a station activity while you pull math groups.
Last summer, I participated in the Math Work Stations book study over at Deedee Wills’ blog. I learned so much, and it really made running stations simpler. I am looking forward to an even better year this year since I will be more organized, having tried stations last year. I wanted to put this idea out on my blog, and will have this set available in my stores, but wanted to spark everyone else’s creativity if they have the resources to make their own!
I will use velcro dots on the back of the group number cards (or possibly little hooks) so cards can easily move over and stay put.
You have permission to PIN this idea if you like! I am really excited to use it!
