February 2, 2012 was filled with activities! We watched Punxsutawney Phil proclaim six more weeks of winter, then learned about groundhogs, what makes shadows, and checked our own predictions. What a fun day!
We are learning sight words this month by push-pinning the words, then writing the words to create lists. You can get a free copy of the word sheet and product sheet here
Stampin’ Teens is going very well! Students are in multi-level groups during center times to allow stronger students to assist “up and comers” in orienting and ordering numerals. Grab the “Stampin Teens” sheet here
Students have been making “real” and nonsense word families, then recording them on a product sheet. My A+ tutor helps them segment and blend as they make words. Listing them in catagories reinforces the rimes for each word family. An extension of this station is a smartboard activity that has mama duck to find babies that belong to her own family. I have this file at school, but can post it tomorrow! Also, my class loves the Phonics Play Buried Treasure game from http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/BuriedTreasure2.html
I have been make-up “Dibeling” all week. I am excited to see progress in my students 🙂
