I was fortunate enough to discover Whole Brain Teaching three years ago. In the time since, I have been able to attend a WBT Workshop here in the Midwest, and have two-and-a-half years of WBT behind me. The beginning of the year is so full of learning routines that it is not possible to do everything, but by January–they are ready for something new and different. This is what I will be introducing to my students: Super Speed 100 (100 of the most frequently used Dolch List Words). I have this game ready to go in sheet protector notebooks so students can mark their most recent stopping point with a dry erase marker. This test is one minute of intense focus because students take turns stating the words–if you lose your place, you have to help each other get back on track, and that can cause you to lose ground! Kids love this game!!! I have a student who is not necessarily focused enough to retain sight words at this point, so I am hoping/praying this will help! Here is a youtube video that explains the process of Super Speed 100 in detail. You can download the game for printing at http://wholebrainteaching.com
