I worked on painting name plate holders this morning, then took some materials in to work on at school. The room is coming together! Here are pics of my calendar, student of the day pocket chart, rules, counting to 100, name pocket chart, and nursery rhymes to begin the year. I put the name plate holders on with hot glue (it just pops off when the year is finished), then tried the name cards out. I like how they came out. I met a new parent this afternoon…am up to 21 (9 girls, 12 boys). Tomorrow will be center labeling and organization.
These are cell phone pics…not the greatest. The back of my library shelving has a net with Treasure Cove Library on it.

Where did you get your name tag holders? Did you make them or buy them? I saw some in the Really Good Stuff catalog but they were very expensive. Thanks!
My husband made them for me last year. He split a 2X4 length-wise, then cut 12" pieces. I think he made the slot with a table saw (slot is 1/2" deep). He also ran them over the belt sander to round the edges and take any splinters off. One 8 foot 2X4 will make 14 to 16 holders. Home depot might cut the boards, but I think they would charge. đŸ™‚ I used acrylic paint on mine–just got around to painting them this year! I used velcro dots to keep them in place last year, but kids wouldn't leave them alone. I hot glued them down this year đŸ˜‰ I really love them.
