My goodness! Where has time gone! December has unrolled with the speed of 8 tiny reindeer! Good cheer and crafts abound! Students are learning amidst the beautiful snowflakes and handmade decor from Oriental Trading. 🙂 When ordering, I try to choose items that will overlap into the next month of the year.
Here are some of the most practical and fun items from the past order!
The finger puppet assortment is a huge hit, and the price point makes it the perfect monthly motivator!’
Students love having buddy reading time with their pointers. How do these facilitate learning? Every time a little reindeer, Santa, penguin, snowman or other puppet touches a word, I know the child is reading every word on the page and learning to track print from left to right! The “pointer” serves as a reminder to read every word!
Earlier in December, we made these adorable photo frame ornaments for the children to take home! They loved the easy peel and stick assembly, and I know their parents love the ornaments as a keepsake from their kindergarten year.
As January approaches, we will use our penguin and snowmen pointers for reading, but our inspiration for snowflakes will come from these gorgeous mylar snowflakes! They are so pretty that I loaded some of them to our high school choral director for our Christmas concert this year. We will study their shape, then cut paper to accompany them.
Oriental Trading has been a wonderful resource for my classroom over the years! I can’t wait to see what they come up with for the New Year, 2017!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
